March 26, 2005

So I was at Abby's cotillion having fun with friends and family, and then suddenly my mom went rushing home, only to tell me that my Grandpa Fidel just passed away at the hospital. She actually left to go and see him. If you all didn't know already, my Grandpa Fidel, who is technically my great uncle (my grandpa's brother-in-law), was in the hospital for a whole month. I visited him twice with my mom and sister, and the last time I saw him, he was in pain. I held his hands just wishing for God to take his pain away because it broke my heart seeing him like that. My cousins and I thought he was going to recover and go back home, but God decided that it was time for him to go. The good news is that he is no longer in pain, and in the stupid hospital, but the bad news is that he left his humungo family behind.

Tonight was the rosary, and I decided to give a short and spur of the moment eulogy and talk about my grandpa in front of family and friends. The moment I stood behind that podium, this feeling went rushing throughout my body, and I started crying without even saying anything. I was surprised that everyone actually understood what I was saying because I was crying the whole time. Anyway, I am glad that I was given that opportunity to speak about my grandpa. I'll never forget his laugh or his smile. He was always happy and always telling jokes, so he will be missed.

Papa Fidel, watch over us now that you are in heaven and rest in peace. We love and miss you.

bills bills bills

I'm only freakin 20 years old and I feel like I have a million bills to pay! For some reason, the mishap I had with my macy's account really f-ed me up really hard in the butthole!!! I had unnecessary overdraft, late, and finance fees that I could have easily avoided if it weren't for macy's cashing $300 from my bank account even though those checks were voided!!!! And these stupid fees keep accruing!

Anyway, I have come up with a solution: I am going to STOP SHOPPING COMPLETELY for ONE WHOLE MONTH, because dude, I think that's why I can't seem to catch up. I went shopping the past two days, and I already spent both my paychecks for Macy's and Hollister that I will be getting directly deposited into my bank account in the morning. So, until April 25, 2005, goodbye shopping! That means, no unnecessary trips to the mall and spending a random $100 and eating out when I'm not hungry or when I already have food at home.

happy birthday to me!

So I didn't do anything big for my birthday this year because I wasn't in the mood to. First of all, my mama and papa are in the PI, so my birthday without them just isn't the same. It makes me a little sad because I didn't spend my birthday last year without them either because I was in New York. And second, 20 is such a boring age. Well, in a way, I am no longer a "teen" which is pretty weird.. so I'm like a REAL adult now. But anyway, I had lots of fun nonetheless. I received my first bday present from Micaela at work on Wednesday:

Yup, she MADE that! Well she bought the plain canvas bag at Michael's, but she designed it and everything! Ok and then I guess my bday began on thursday when my mommy gave me my birthday present:

As soon as I can use my employee discount, I'm gonna buy the matching wallet. I also spent some quality time with my mommy and sissy. My birthday continued friday when I spent quality time with Jonathan after he came home from work. At midnight, Jonathan was the first to wish me a happy bday. Leanna and my mom were already sleeping. The second bday wish was from Mike who called right when Jonathan was in the middle of playing "happy birthday" on his guitar. Then Jonathan and I hung out until Chris and Lisa came over to my house, and even though we were all doing our own thing... Jonathan on his guitar, Lisa on her laptop, Chris on my laptop, and me watching tv, I had fun. This is what Lisa made for me (she said there was more to come from her mama! yay):

Jonathan and Chris left around 3am, and then Lisa and I fell asleep around 4. When I woke up, everyone was still sleeping! I think it was because it was raining really hard. My mommy cooked french toast and bacon for breakfast, Jonathan came by, then I went to work at Macy's until 4ish. I was pretty stressed out because it was my first busy day there.. and customers were stressing me out. So my mommy picked me up after work, then my mom, Leanna, Jonathan, and I headed over to Union City and had dinner with my Auntie Hazel and Uncle Bill at this Italian restaurant called Mossimo's (yeah like the brand), which was this fancy shmacny sit down restaurant with dim lighting, but the food was ohhhh so goood! Afterwards, we watched the Pacquiao fight on PPV, debated about same-sex marriages (well me vs. mom and Auntie Hazel), then headed home to San Jose. I opened some of the presents Jonathan gave me on the way home, and this is one of them (from Ikea):

Then we went to Erica's party, where Erica was already drunk. I had a lot of fun there too. Lisa told her aunt it was my birthday, and asked if it was ok for me to have a shot of Bacardi just to see if it was ok. She asked how old I was turning, and I was honest, said 20, and she said "ok ok".. haha. I didn't really want to, but I did anyway at 11:59pm, the last minute of my birthday! The theme of the party was mardi gras, and Jonathan "earned" a lot of beads from me if you know what I mean.. haha. Yup, he flashed me his boobies! I was tired, so we went home, hung out for a bit at home, then went to bed. This morning, I had a full 8 hour shift at Macy's, and a customer almost made me cry, but it's ok. When I got home, my mommy gave me my other present, a new camera! yay!

Ok, so happy birthday to me, Erica, and Andrew! And to my readers, visit me at Macy's at Oakridge because I will be working all week! Also, I want to shop because I have birthday money! Not this week though, soon!

OH YEAH!!! THANK YOU FRIENDS/FAMILY FOR ALL THE PHONE CALLS, TEXTS, VOICEMAILS, CHATTERBOX COMMENTS, IMs, MYSPACE COMMENTS, and IN PERSON BIRTHDAY WISHES!! I truly felt loved!

Since my last post I...

...went to my orientation for Macy's and filled out paperwork and all that junk

...went to Jessica's bbq where Jonathan shared his "Drunk Girl" song with the rest of his friends
...attented Pam's bday party at a hotel near Bay 101 with Mike, Nate, Joel, Sam, and Jonathan. Then I had fun watching Julie make fun of everyone by saying shhhh
...found out my good friend is having a baby! yay. I LOVE YOU!
...actually worked at Hollister. I wasn't tempted to give away my shift
...did last minute assignments for the end of the quarter: final intern paper, final psych paper, and final politics final!
...received my refund check from macy's and payed for all my stupid bills. dam overdraft and late fees!
...received my schedule for macy's and I start tomorrow!
...became really excited because my sister officially got into NDSJ! yay!
...went to my last day of the winter quarter yesterday
...dedicated all of today to writing my stupid final essay for politics. 10 pages on Aristotle and the Bible? eh
...turned in my politics final essay, and took the final exam that is worth 0+%, meaning, it can improve my grade, but not hurt it
...was accompanied by my mommy and sissy to UCSC tonight because I didn't wanna drive alone in the dark

and that's it. 4 more days until my birthday!

New job here I come!

Thursday, March 3, 2005
I skipped school for the whole day (the day of my last post). I had a lot of free time on my hands and decided to apply for a job at macy's. I went to macysjobs.com and found 4 that interested me: intern at macys in sf, sales at vf, sales at oakridge, and sales at eastridge. So I did the online application thing, and sent my cover letter and resume that morning. A few hours later, I get an e-mail for an interview for the sales positions at vf, oakridge, and eastridge!

Monday, March 7, 2005
I go to my interview after class at Oakridge. It was a group interview with 5 other people, so it wasn't bad at all. They told us that if we wanted to work at the other malls, that we only need to go to one group interview, and they'd forward our applications. Anyway, I go and grab a pizookie with Jonathan and Joel at BJ's, and 30 minutes after I leave my group interview, I get a call for a second interview that same day! So I met with James, the hiring manager I guess, and had a one-on-one interview. I was a little bit nervous, but it wasn't bad at all.

Wednesday, March 9, 2005
I was taking a nap in my room and my mom started screaming my name. I thought I was in trouble when I went into her room, but she made me listen to a message on the answering machine. It was Stephanie, the Clubhouse and Juniors Department manager at Oakridge offering me a job! yay! I call her back, and we schedule to meet that same day for me to sign a job offer letter. I had so much fun talking with her, and she got me hyped up about working there at Macy's. Although I wanted to work at Valley Fair instead, Oakridge is fine by me. She gave me a choice of being in the Clubhouse or the Juniors Department. Well, I didn't know what the hell Clubhouse was, but she explained to me that it had better brands, and was for an older crowd, but not too old, blah blah blah, so she places me and I sign the job offer.

Today, March 11, 2005
I have to go to the Macy's at Eastridge to fill out paper work.. so hopefully I start next week! yay! I can't wait to use my discount and shop shop shop!

As for Hollister, I still work there, but if I do not get a raise any time soon, I am quitting OR I can just work once a week so I can still have the discount =). So even though I skipped school the whole day last thursday, at least I was productive and scored a job at one of my favorite places! If you didn't know, going to Macy's is one of my favorite pasttimes because as a kid, I went there at least once a week with my mom or grandma to shop shop shop! haha.. so now you know where I get it from. Ok that's it. bye readers!

Wow I think this has been the longest since I've gone without going on my stupid blogger. Anyway, if you haven't noticed already, school has been taking up a lot of my time. Some quick blurbs of what I've been up to since my last update:

-Career workshops and guest speakers about going to law school and careers in law for Psychology students
-unending basketball games for my sister, and wanting to beat up the stupid girls who push her down!
-hair cut
-lots of family time at my uncle Charlie's house with my crazy cousins.. watching movies, watching them bake me cakes, annoying our parents
-working less. I get so tired during the week because of school, so I give away most of my shifts
-skipping at least one day a week of school! This week is the first week in a long time where I've been at school on a monday, but I skipped today because I was lazy!
-Jonathan going to Vegas with just the boys! The longest I've gone without seeing him this year
-moving my sister out of our room, into my mom's old room, and moving my mom into my grandparents' old room because they are planning to stay in the Philipppines more now =(. On a positive note, I have my own room again, so I might just live in San Jose until I graduate
-lotsssssssss of shopping with my mommy and sister! my macy's credit card was maxed out a million times these past few weekends
-spending time with Mehgan and Diana and Mehgan's puppy, Roxy
-ASHLEE SIMPSON CONCERT with Jonathan and Leanna!! which was so much fun, and she IS good live!
-Disney on Ice, Monster's Inc. with Jonathan, Lisa, and Chris. We had the best seats in the house surrounded by 5 year olds.. haha. FUN FUN FUN!
-obessing over The OC because the episodes have been GOOOOOOD!
-eye appt with a new eye doctor. my eyes got worse =( and I can't get Lasik until my prescription stabilizes!
-Mahlia's 1st birthday party where Daysha has an incident with her lollipop and the paramedics show up!
-Jonathan's coworker's party that turned out to be a party for gays and lesbians that were raising money for a transsexual woman. don't ask.
-watching my sister's turtle, Marble, and spoiling it with a bigger tank with a basking area and lots of colorful rocks.
-enrolling in my spring courses, and scoring only classes on MWF!! yay, three day week for me with breaks in between!
-neverending essays for my classes and receiving a poor grade on my midterm essay for politics =(
-macy's screwing up by cashing checks I voided and causing me -$170 and $132 worth of insufficient funds fees.. but it's ok, I still want an internship there.

and I think that is all. 16 more days until my birthday!!!!!!!!
