I love my iPhone

A few days ago, I stumbled upon this article from the New York Times.  I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head because it's so true: "Friends who have accidentally left home without their iPhones tell me they feel stressed-out, cut off and somehow un-whole. That sounds a lot like separation anxiety to me."  I get bad separation anxiety when my phone runs out of battery.  The article talked about "phantom vibrations" when you check your phone every 5 minutes because you think you hear/feel it.  They even did studies comparing fMRI/brain tests.

My addiction started in 2008 when Jonathan bought us the iPhone 3G.  He worked for Apple at the time, did work for the iPhone, and so we "had" to make the switch from Verizon to AT&T.  He paid our termination fees and everything.  Was it worth it?  Hell yeah!  I used my phone for everything.  In 2009, shortly after they announced the release of the 3GS, I dropped my phone (that was in a case!!!) and the screen cracked!!!  My heart dropped and I wanted to cancel my plans for that night just so I could go to the Apple Store to buy a new one!  The next morning, I went to the store and paid full retail price for a beautiful white 3GS.  I gave my cracked 3G to my sister's boyfriend (since he had AT&T and she still had Verizon).  Honestly, I could have just paid $50 to get the screen fixed, but I was finding every excuse to get my hands on the newest iPhone. "Well, Jonathan bought my 3G, so paying full price for a 3GS is ok!"

Then June 2010 rolled around and they announced the iPhone 4.  My sister wanted to make the switch from Verizon to AT&T so she agreed that I could get the new iPhone under her contract, and in exchange, she would wait in line for me and keep my 3GS.  That was pretty damn even to me!  Leanna and her boyfriend waited in line for me all day long, but they said Apple treated them well.  They got all kinds of goodies while waiting in line.  She came to my work and I had my beautiful brand new iPhone 4 in hand!

Today, Apple made an announcement about the iPhone 4S, and I had another battle with myself.  I've decided that I am getting the new iPhone 4S.  I had to write out my reasons to decide...

1. I am due for an upgrade (since I used Leanna's last year), so I will only be paying the upgrade price.
2. Nextworth.com will purchase my iPhone 4 for $200 OR I can sell it to someone for the same or more.
3. If I don't use my upgrade this year and save it for 2012, I probably won't be able to sell my 2010 iPhone 4 for $200.  Selling my iPhone 4, paying the upgrade price for the iPhone 4s, and paying retail price for the 2012 iPhone is the same (money-wise) as not being able to sell my iPhone 4 and paying upgrade price for the iPhone next year in 2012.  I will also be able to sell the iPhone 4S.

October 7, pre-order time!!!!!!!
