Fight Night.

The weekend started off with going to this event at the HP Pavillion with Jonathan, Jay, and Evangeline. Jonathan and I were on our way home from Santa Cruz Thursday (after taking my Female Phys Final), and he tells me about this Fight Night thing he heard on the radio before he picked me and informed me that his cousin had hook-ups to these events. It was sooo fun! I've never been to a boxing match before and we were on the floor in the first row.. so we saw all the sweat being knocked out of the boxers when they were getting hit. The sandwiches we had were great too, and they were only for the people with those VIP passes. Everything was so expensive, the food, our tickets, merchandise, but Jonathan's cousin and cousin-in-law spoiled us both. Afterwards, we went to pick up little Daysha, and the both of us talked the entire time from San Mateo to Sunnyvale. She's so adorable. After a long day/night of not being home, we decided to conclude our day.

Home Sweet Home.
My friday was spent cleaning, with family, going to EASTRIDGE (which is under heavy construction), and working, and then home again.

Flores De Mayo.
So my sister was the Reina Elena for the traditional Filipino event on Saturday for Flores de Mayo. There were lots of girls dressed up in pretty dresses as queens, and my sister was the main one.. she was sooo cute. Jonathan and I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood parading with the rest of the Filipinos and flowers. Afterwards was the reception and Jonathan ate his brains out, again. All of my cousins went, then came home. We had a huge sleepover at home, where I fell asleep around 10pm with Jonathan after chowing down on some pizza.. I had food coma.. but I woke up afterwards. Oh yeah, I also cleaned out my closet and gave 5 FULL bags of clothes to my cousins.. clothes that I've never worn before, only wore once, or do not wear anymore. Now I have a lot of space for more clothes!

Monthiversay, motorcycle, and eating time!
It was our 5 years and 11 months on sunday.. nothing special really, it's just fun to count each month still! I went to church with my 3 cousins, sister, and mom, met up with Jonathan who gave me a cute anniversary card along with my favorite chocolate.. RESEES', then all of us headed to my cousins house to play! haha. My grandparents even came over. My uncle bought two mini motorcycles last week, and came back with two more that day. It was fun watching Jonathan and my cousin Charlie ride the moped and motorcycle around the neighborhood. I even tried the motorcycle, and dam, it was hard to turn and I blanked out for 5 seconds and forgot how to brake, and yeah.. I almost fell, but I didn't. The bike was fine too. It was nice to know that my dear cousins came running to my rescue while Jonathan laughed for a good minute before running to my rescue. Amber made strawberry smoothies for everyone.. then Jonathan and I had an early dinner at Cheesecake Factory. As usual, he had his thai curry, and I had my pasta. We had fun, then I had work which was not bad at all. Jonathan came to pick me up with a surprise.. A SHAVED HEAD.. AHHHHHHH!

Lazy Day.
Mondays are usually my lazy days... and this one was extremely lazy. I cleaned my room of course, then watched hours of tv.. haha. I was gonna work on my research paper, but lagged. I have YET to finish it! wish me luck! Anyway, Jonathan came over, went home, came over, went home, came over, and just went home an hour ago. He bought me McDonald's, we watched "The Swan" Pageant, he took a shit for a long time, and now I am here being unproductive.

Happy 47th Birthday to my daddy, Julius Somera Lopez (5/24) and Happy 19th Birthday to my dearest cousin, Krystal Gail Lopez Marcos (5/22)!!!!!

Here Comes the Bride.. dun dun da dun.
Noooo I'm not getting married, but last night I had the most fun with my sister. While my mom and grandma were talking, my sister and I were looking through old dresses from the closet. I found my mom's wedding dress and veil and everything.. so I put it on!!! haha. It fit perfectly.. I felt so great! My mom and grandma even fixed the veil and everything.

First all-nighter of College.
So I've never ever stayed up past 1 or 2am doing an assignment for ANYTHING. I'd always get an adequate amount of sleep too. But last night.. DAM. I waited until 11pm-12am-ish to START writing a RESEARCH PAPER. I will never do anything like that again (but I probably will). By the time I was finished, it was almost 4am and I was dizzy! I woke up this morning feeling like shit. Jonathan and I were supposed to leave San Jose around 8am.. but that didn't work. He came over around 9, gave me medicine, then we both fell asleep and woke up at 11!! I was worried like hell because I had to turn in my research paper for my 12 o clock class! and we still had to pick up Lorelei and Jo. Good thing I was only 10 minutes late for class and another student came walking in 10 minutes after me. Yeah there are only 20 people in that class. ok that's it. I must now start my hw.

My weekend wasn't really "poppin" but I got to spend quality time with my family and Jonathan again. I had work.. not that tiring because we actually ended on time! Hmm.. I bought a new toothbrush! haha.. and that's basically it. Oh yeah, I also watched "Friends" but that's nothing new. OH but I watched my Season Finale of Friends DVD.. that was pretty cool because it was an EXTENDED VERSION! Oh wait.. Friday, Jonathan and I took BART to SF to check out academy of art. If I was into advertising, motion picture, etc, for my career then I'd probably go there, but I'm not! So Jonathan already applied and yadda yadda.. hopefully his parents will let him go in the fall!

Friends.
So the season finale was on thursday and I enjoyed it very much with my Jonathan, my sister, and my mommy. I'm getting the DVD in the mail tomorrow! yay! But yeah.. thank you FRIENDS for being in my life for 10 years.. although I did not watch EVERY single thursday, I was still a fan... and a fan I will remain since I've got all the DVDs. Well not the ones that haven't come out yet.

Crack!
While Jonathan was on his way to pick me up last Thursday.. a rock went flying towards the wildsheild of the car! To make it even worse is that he was driving MY car.. so now there's a crack on the driver's side of the window. I get scared driving it now because I have this fear that it's gonna break while I'm driving and the glass is gonna fall on me. yeah I'm weird. My mom called the insurance and hopefully they can cover the costs of a new window.

Chop chop.
I'm going through this short hair phase now. Friday, I went to take my cousins to get haircuts, and I ended up getting one too. It's not so dramatic compared to how it has been.. but it's a dramatic change if you haven't seen me in 6 months.

MHT Talent Show.
My sister also performed some hip hop routine for her talent show act along with her friends. Not to sound conceited or anything, but my sister is soooo good. I'm so proud of her!

Paaaartay..
Ok maybe not.. but Jonathan and I went to Ikan's house for his birthday party.. and damm, there were hella people. It took us a while to find parking! it was funny because I saw some of my friends there who didn't even know the birthday boy. When we got there, they had to kick those random people out and stuff.. pretty sad but pretty funny too.. and when Jonathan and I left after a great game of air hockey, Jonathan's friends started showing up. bad timing.

PCN 2004.
It was my first year watching PCN as an audience member.. and this PCN this year did not really leave me wanting more. I guess it was the sound quality and stuff that ruined it for me.. but all in all.. the storyline was good and the dancing was good. Gosh.. how I miss PCN and PCN practices and FSA meetings and yadda yadda. Afterwards, Jonathan and I grabbed a bite to eat at In N Out with Joel and Charissa, then had "Friends" night again at my house.

My mother is the best.
My sister and I bought my mom that heart of motherhood from Hallmark last week.. and I did some modifications to it by putting in our pictures and everything. Well I surprised her with it Sunday morning and with some cards from Leanna, Jonathan, and I. We then went to my auntie Myrna's house for the rest of the day after dropping of a mother's day present for my grandma. Yeah.. I was gonna write out a tribute to my mommy.. but everyone already knows how great she is.

Work Mix-up
I felt like spending money since Jonathan was upsetting me, so I drove myself to Valley Fair monday morning at 10am right when the mall opened. I took advantage of my employee discount and I met our new manager, Dave. It's funny because my other manager introduced me as "Lisa" to Dave. I didn't even bother correcting him until he realized it because I thought that was just funny. They don't even know Lisa and I are best friends and they never see us working together, but they still mix us up. I guess we're soul mates, best friend wise.. haha.

Back to Santa Cruz!
I ended up skipping my writing class for today bc I wanted to study for my History of Jazz midterm.. but did I study? noooo. I took a nap with Jonathan on my bed until 1230 and finally left for SC at 1pm. Yeah.. I'm ready for summer

Wednesday, May 05, 2004

I've been on a blogging spree lately. Oh well! So dinner at Sizzler's with the fam was great. Some people were complaining about the loudness us Respicios were producing.. so when our waitress announced to the entire restaurant that it was our grandpa's birthday, we sang our brains out. We really showed those complaining customers what LOUD really meant.. haha. Messed up I know.. but hey! They were raining on our parade. On another note... the glass/crystal cover thingy on my gucci watch fell off or broke off somehow. You know that thingy that covers the hands so you can't just move the hands by pushing them? I hope you know what I mean.. anyway, my grandma gave me that watch last year... and I'm scared to tell her because I know replacing just that glass part is going to be mucho expensive since the watch was already mucho expensive. dammit. I guess I'll have to stop shopping for a while to repair my watch.
Last night I had so much fun! Mariel came to visit us in Santa Cruz. Actually, she was in the mood to dye her hair, and she didn't trust anyone but Dianne, so yeah.. that's why she came. Anyway, Mariel, Dianne, and Michelle came to visit Sher and I at our dorm. We ate and had some hair bleaching/dying/streaking fun.. haha. My hair has been a bleach virgin for a while now.. but not anymore! Yeah.. we didn't stop our fun until 130am or so.

Happy 70th birthday to my Papa, Cresenciano [chris-in-see-ah-no] Respicio! Papa is my grandpa if you didn't know. Yay.. I'm goin home to celebrate with the fam. I think I'll write about my Papa since it's his birthday and whatnot. For those of you who know my grandfather, you're probably scared of him or think he's a really mean man. Well.. just the guys.. he's nice to all my girl friends. You know how that goes. Anyway... my Papa is my hero, as cliche as that sounds. He literally gave up his extravagant life in the Philippines for his family. See, he was a lawyer in the Philippines.. and not a greedy one either. A lot of his money went to the poor people there.. and if you've ever been to the PI, there are tons of poor people. He also did some pro bono stuff.. meaning, if someone could not afford a lawyer, they would turn to him. Maybe now you know why I've been wanting to be a lawyer since the day I could talk. Anyway, he wasn't only a lawyer, he was a politician in the province they lived in. He would be the Board Director of blah blah blah and other blah blah blahs. Well one day, he decided to run for mayor, and he WON! My Papa won fair and square. But, again, if you know anything about politics in the PI, you would know that it is corrupt.. especially in the late 1970s when he was running. Anyway, his opponent wasn't so pleased.. so he threatened to kill.. yes KILL.. my grandpa and his family if he didn't disappear and give up being mayor. So for a few months, my mom, uncle, aunt, and grandma had to live in hiding far from their home while my grandpa tried to take care of some business. He did not want anyone to harm his family, so he had no choice but to leave his home in the PI.. his career.. his friends.. everything. He came to the U.S. with NOTHING.. well with money.. but not a lot of it. He couldn't go back to law school and start over being a lawyer anymore.. there just wasn't enough time. He really had to start his life from SCRATCH when he was in his 40s or 50s. Can you imagine doing that? Living a perfectly good life.. and then one day having no choice BUT to leave it? Goodness. But I must say, he did a fantastic, super, marvelous, terrific, stupendous job raising his 3 children and 7 grandchildren. That is why sometimes I don't blame him for his mood swings.. you would have mood swings too if you had to go through what he had to go through. I love my Papa.. not only because he has been spoiling me since the day I was born.. but because he's given me so much love and support. Yes, that is why I am going to continue where he left off. He couldn't be a lawyer anymore.. my mom didn't have the time to go back to law school either.. so it's my turn. Ok that's it. I hope you had fun reading about my grandpa, he is a marvelous man. If you've ever had a REAL conversation with him, you would know exactly how intelligent and brilliant he is. I love you Papa even though you are not going to read this.

Ok.. now it's time to study for my female phys quiz today.

So these girls that were supposed to be Sher's and my roommates for next year turned out to be total bitches. Well not bitches.. they just got mad at Sher because she's got a life, so they went and found new roommates. Oh well... I'm even more excited about next year because Sher will be living at home like me! yay! I was kinda scared to drive by myself, but not anymore! Sher did some calculations and instead of spending $3,000 a quarter, we'd only be spending $300, which is not bad at all. On another note, I am almost complete with my Friends DVD collection. My mommy bought me Season 7 and then I preordered the season finale on amazon yesterday.. now all I have to wait for is 8, 9, and 10. I can't believe that Thursday is the last one! I requested work off just for that night, so it better be good. Well, I know it will be good because Neneng read the spoilers and told me about it. OOh yeah and despite the fact that I just came back to Santa Cruz today, I'm going home to San Jose tomorrow for my Papa's 70th birthday! My mom's gonna pick me up and my cousins and I are going to have a blast with our grandpa. Then thursday is just a day of classes and I go home and the finale!

Sunday, May 02, 2004

So it's sunday night and I am in no mood to be doing homework. When I came home on Thursday, I did nothing but watch more of "Friends" with honeybee. Friday I ran errands.. first stopped by my mom's work for a job interview. Hopefully I'll get to be her file clerk (or someone else's) over there this summer then I can talk to the lawyers and gain some experience for my future. Then headed to Costco to pick up pictures, picked up Joanne at ND, dropped her off at Evergreen for a placement test, watched more "Friends" episodes until worktime for the both of us, left work early, and went to Joel's little get-together where I was freakishly hungry. Saturday I went out with my mom and sister to buy shoes/flip flops, jollybee for lunch, and pick up cousin Ashley. Later on I watched "Mean Girls" with honeybee then went to work work again. I left him at my house by himself so he could catch up on "Friends" episodes. Today I went to church at 930am for Sister Susan's going away mass thing, stayed at the reception thingy, salon day for mom sis and I; got my nails, toe nails, and eyebrows done, hung out at my cousins' house: watched DVDs, took a nap, hung out with Jonathan came to hang out, then Target with my mommy and sister, and now I am home awaiting my bf's call.
