HERE'S A STORY...

Once upon a time at Most Holy Trinity, a ghetto private school in east side San Jose, there was a little 1st grader named Jule and a little 2nd grader named Jon. Jule was new that year. One day, Jon decided to talk to Jule who was waiting patiently outside for her grandma to pick her up. He walks up to her and says in a very polite way, "Hey where's your cousin?" Jule replies with a "wtf" look on her face and goes, "Uhh.. I don't know. She doesn't go to school here anymore," and turns around. As you can see, Jule gave Jon attitude back then too. That was the first day they met.

Many years passed by, and Jule and Jon never really talked to one anotherShoot, I don't think that they talked at all. However, one day when Jule was in 6th grade and when Jon was in 7th grade, Katherine (Jon's friend) goes up to talk to Jule in the girls' bathroom:
"Do you know who you'd look hella cute with?" she asked.
"Who?" Jule questioned with big, wide eyes.
"Jon."
"Who's that?"
"Jonathan. Him over there," she says as she points to him.
"Ohhhh. Hiiimmm. Yeah he's cute," Jule replies. She didn't want to seem too anxious, so she played it cool. Since all of this happened towards the end of the year, nothing really happened between Jon and Jule. The summer went by, and still nothing happened. So Jule told herself, "Oh well." Finally, it was time for a new school year.

Jule was excited to start her 7th grade year. At the morning assembly, Jule caught herself staring at the cute 8th grade boy who had the same shoes as her (some Nike Uptempos). To her surprise, the cute 8th grade boy was Jon. "Wow," she said in her head, "He's so adorable."

I believe that this was the year that Jule started talking to Jon on AOL, or was it 6th grade? Well whatever year that was, Jon would always help Jule and her best friend Lisa with their webpage (which is still up and running to this day http://bounce.to/~derealm). Jule enjoyed "chatting" with Jon online, but she never really built up the courage to talk to him at school. It was okay with her though because she was able to see his cute face every day at school. She would watch him at the corner of her eye when he played basketball. He looked so cute when he played basketball. Jule would also buy Hot Lunch even when she wasn't hungry, just so that she could pass the 8th grade area on the way. Sometimes during assemblies or liturgies at school, Jule and Jon would catch each other looking at each other. Jule would always turn her head quickly because she didn't want him to think that she liked him. Jule also LOVED going to church on Sundays at 12:30 for the Tagalog mass because Jon would always be there. Anyway, Jule had NO idea what to do because Jon was her first crush. She was clueless.

In that same year on Octoboer 31, 1997, the 7th and 8th grade had a Halloween dance. Those were probably the most "ghetto-est" dances ever, but who cares. For most of the day, Lisa kept telling Jule to dance with Jon if he asked, and etc etc etc. At the dance, when the song "Cupid" by 112 starts playing, Jeremy, Jule's dorky friend, asks Jule to dance. As they get up to dance, Jule sees Jon pass by. He was going to ask her to dance, but he was too late! The poor boy tries to play it off and acts as if he was not going to ask her. But Jon did not give up. When the next slow slong played, Jon went up to Jule who was sitting down and says, "Do you want to dance?" and smiles. She doesn't say anything, but gets up. They dance to "I Care 'Bout You" by Milestone (from the Soul Food Soundtrack). When they were dancing, Joel, Jon's crazy friend, sings the entire song to us..I mean them. Jule had the biggest smile on her face, and wanted to stay in his arms forever. That was the first time they danced.

Jule thought that this time, "something" between Jule and Jon was going to happen, but she was wrong. The year went by, and Jule and Jon STILL always wore the same kinds of shoes. Gap Anoraks were in back then, and they would always wear those too. I think that they even had matching Nike jackets. Jule slowly stopped talking to Jon online because she didn't want to get attached to something that wasn't going to be around for long. One day, when February rolled around, Lisa tells Jule that she had a secret and that Jule was going to get something really special by the end of the month. Jule wanted to kill Lisa for not telling her the secret, because they were best friends, they told each other EVERYTHING. The Valentine's dance finally came, and this time, Jon did NOT ask Jule to dance. She even waited! She left that dance sad and disappointed AND bitter. Jon made up for it on March 19th though. It was Jule's birthday, and he left a message on Jule's pager/voicemail. He said something like, "Hey Jule, it's Jonathan. Yeah. Well I just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday and all that..." Jule was so excited. She called every one she knew; well after she called Lisa first of course. But since Lisa had Jule's access code, she already heard the voicemail. That month, 3-way calling was FREE, so Jule and Lisa 3-wayed the entire 7th grade class (well maybe not the ENTIRE class) and had them listen to the voicemail that Jon left for Jule. Jule started liking him again.

Later on, Jon calls Jule with Joel on the line and asks if she got his message. Jule can't stop smiling while she is talks to them, and she secretly 3-ways Lisa so she could listen. Oh, how Jule LOVED 3-way. So Jule was almost for sure that SOMETHING was going to happen between the two of them, but no, she was wrong again. Jon was slow, real slow. I guess it's because he was and still is shy. Anyway, it was the end of May or the beginning of June and that meant graduation for the 8th graders. Jule was scared that she was never going to have anything with Jon, so she stopped liking him.

Jule’s mom liked to help out with school events, so Jule ended up being a “server” for the 8th grade dinner dance. And yes, Jon was there. Jule and Lisa had fun playing in the backroom with the food and stuff. Towards the end of the night, Jule and Lisa sat out and watched the 8th graders dance. When Innerlude’s, “I Don’t Wanna Go On” started playing, the same girl who talked to Jule in the bathroom when Jule was in 6th grade ran over to Jule, grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the dance floor. Jule was confused and did not know what was going on. The whole dance floor seemed to clear a path for Jule, a path that led to Jon. She put her arms around him tightly and did not want the moment to end. Since Jule was in 7th grade, and Jon was in 8th grade, Jule was not allowed to participate in the event, so one of the teachers politely asked Jule to leave the dance floor (She went up to Lisa too because she was dancing with Philip, but that’s another story). Jule went home happy and could not stop thinking about him.

Jule went to the 8th grade graduation and watched Jon receive his diploma. Again, NOTHING happened. No calls, no pages, no voicemails, nothing from Jon. Good thing that the 7th and 8th grade fieldtrip was postponed until after graduation, so Jule had one more chance. Surprisingly, Jule and Jon were almost wearing the same exact fit: Nike jersey, Nikes, white Gap Anorak, and Oakley sunglasses. It was weird how they always dressed alike. Anyway, while Jule and Lisa were at the top of a waterslide, they saw Jon and Joel at the top of another water slide, and they all waved to each other. Jule was so happy because Jon waved to her! At the end of the fieldtrip, Jule’s other friend Reztyleen went up to Jon and says, “Are you two gonna hook up or not?” When Jule gets home, she gets a call from Reztyleen, who was on 3-way with Jon. About a minute into the conversation, Reztyleen says that she had to go, so Jule and Jon talked to each other...ALONE. They talked for a couple hours straight. Jule loved how they were able to carry on a conversation for so long without getting bored. When they got off, Jule felt like the happiest person in the world. That was the first time that they talked on the phone.

They called each other every day, and before you knew it, they were finally an official couple! Jon decided to ask Jule out on June 23, 1998 at 12:20am. They saw each other about once a week, but talked every day. Their “place” was Mercado. As Jon was getting picked up with his friend this one day at Mercado, he goes over to Jule who was sitting down and gives her an upside down kiss (on the lips!) goodbye. Jule was left speechless and couldn’t even say anything to Lisa who was sitting right next to her. That was their first kiss.

Jule went through her entire 8th grade year with a wonderful boyfriend, and she couldn’t be any happier. At her graduation, Jon gave her sunflowers. Jule finally goes off to high school. One Monday, at around the beginning of the school year, Jule comes to school crying her eyes out; they broke up, for a reason that Jule forgot about. That was the first time that they broke up.

They got back together that same day and Jule was happy again. Jon never broke up with Jule, it was always Jule breaking up with Jon. She was a horrible, horrible person. Freshman year for Jule and sophomore year for Jon went by quickly. They were still together. Their song was, “Angel of Mine” by Monica.

When Jule was a sophomore, she started to meet A LOT of new people. That year, Jule and Jon had many breakups and many problems. Jule loved meeting new people, but she felt restricted because she had a boyfriend. Jule wanted out. After many breakups and make-ups, Jule and Jon broke up for the last time on November 1, 2000. So they were boyfriend and girlfriend for 2 years and about 4 or 5 months. Jule was sad and Jon was sad. Jule sometimes missed Jon’s presence but she wanted to experience new people and new things because she wanted to have as much fun as she could in high school. And so she learned to put her feelings aside. Jule would always try to talk to Jon, but he hated her. He didn’t want to talk to her at all. It seemed as if he didn’t even want her around, and it seemed as if he wanted her out of his life completely. He got his wish.

Two years went by, and Jule and Jon still never really talked. I don’t think that they talked at all. They would sometimes see each other around, but they played off that “I didn’t see you look.” It was weird and awkward every time Jule saw Jon. She really missed him and would think about him from time to time. But she learned to accept that he was out of her life. She had no regrets though because her First Love was in fact, the Best Love.

One day at church during the summer after Jon graduated high school and Jule was going to be a senior, Jule’s mom goes up to Jon and asks him to be her escort for her cotillion. Jule was so embarrassed, but she played off that “cool” look. She put Jon back on her buddy list again, and even put his name back in her cell phone again. Jon would show up to cotillion practice almost every week, and Jule started having those stupid tingly feelings again. She told herself to ignore the feelings because dude, they were so two years ago! She wasn’t sure if the feelings that she felt were real or not. She ignored the feelings and continued to live her life. However, Jule felt the same feelings every time Jon was around.

For some unexplained reason, Jule and Jon start talking more. Jule enjoyed talking to him; she always enjoyed talking to him. One day in January or Februry, as Jule was talking to Jon who was at work, she asks him to bake her cookies. He would always forget the cookies when he went to practice.

On February 13, 2003, Jon was FINALLY going to bake cookies for Jule! Unfortunately, he phones Jule and tells her that they didn’t have any cookie dough and so he offered to take her out to eat “real food.” Jule didn’t want “real food,” she wanted ice cream, so Jon says, “Ok, I’ll bring you some ice cream.” Again, Jon phones Jule and Jule sadly asks, “Aw, you can’t bring my ice cream?” Jon replies, “My mom stole my car!” So basically, the poor boy was stranded. So Jule, being the nice and sweet girl that she is, offers to pick him up and take him home, just as long as he still gets her the ice cream he promised her. He works 2 minutes away from Jule’s house, so Jule didn’t mind. Jule was nervous while she was in the car with him because she didn’t know what to say and she didn’t know how to act because it had been a LONG while since they talked like that. Jon tells Jule that he was working until 11pm the next day, and Jule says, “What??? It’s Valentine’s Day!” She takes him home (after she gets ice cream =]) and thinks about how crazy he is for working on Valentine’s Day. He told her that “it’s just another Friday” and so Jule just thought ok whatever.

On Valentine’s day 2003, Jule decided to surprise Jon at work because she felt that no one deserved to work on such a day, even if they didn’t have a valentine. She surprised him with 10 Valentine’s Day balloons, 1 big balloon, a card, and Hershey hugs, not kisses. She just wanted to do something special for him, because he was and STILL is special to her. She put a smile on his face (and vice versa) and later that night he called Jule, and they went out. They talked for about 3 hours straight just catching up on two years worth of not talking to each other. It was such a wonderful night for Jule, and when she hugged him goodbye, she knew that those “tinglies” were real. She hoped and prayed and talked to her friend Sherilyn about him. Jule and Jon ended up spending the entire weekend together. That Sunday, Jon tells Jule that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be a boyfriend again, and all this other “crap.” Jule wanted to kick his face. They continued to see each other…every day to be exact. After a lot of stupidity from Jon, and a lot of anger from Jule, they wanted to give what they had another try. Again, Jule was the happiest girl in the world because she never knew that "they" would ever happen again. She was surprised, but also happy how she still had the same feelings for him. Jule and Jon got back together and are currently living happily ever after. Their 12 years of history didn't go down the drain after all =)

THE END (for now).
